The University of Virginia and the Department of Parking & Transportation is committed to providing accessible services for students, faculty, staff, patients, and visitors of the University on a first-come, first-served basis.
DMV-Issued Disability Plate or Placard
DMV-issued disability plates and placards are honored in disability stalls in Central, West, and North Grounds, and in event disability parking (exception: visit UVA Athletics for specifics regarding football). Disability stalls in the Health System are reserved for patients and hospital visitors. Students, academic employees, and Health System Team members should review the applicable section below. For more information, contact Parking & Transportation during business hours at 434-924-7231.
Parking for People with Disabilities
Students
Students with a permanent or temporary disability may submit requests to the Student Disability Access Center (SDAC) to obtain parking and transportation accommodations. If the accommodation results in a reserved parking assignment, reserved parking rates will apply. SDAC representatives will work with P&T on options.
Academic Employees
Academic employees with temporary or permanent medical conditions or disabilities may submit a request for a parking accommodation on Central, North, and West Grounds by emailing parking@virginia.edu. The request should include start and end date and supporting documentation from a physician. If the request results in a parking assignment, associated parking rates will apply.
Health System Team Members
Team members with a DMV-issued disability plate or placard are not eligible to park in disability parking stalls intended for patients. Team members may explore a parking or transportation accommodation due to a medical condition or disability by contacting the Health System Parking Office to request the appropriate forms and review. If the review results in a parking assignment, associated parking rates apply.
