Terms and Conditions of Service 

Effective Date: March 2023 

By consenting to the University of Virginia Department of Parking and Transportation’s (P&T) SMS text alerts by subscribing via our subscription tools, you agree to receive recurring text notifications for University Transit Services (UTS) alerts, Parking alerts, event and weather disruptions, as well as requests for reviews from us, even if your mobile number is registered on any state or federal do-not-call list. Message frequency varies. Consent is not a condition of purchase or use of our services. 

PROGRAM DESCRIPTION

P&T SMS Alerts are there to provide alerts for changes in routes, service levels, delays, closures, parking lot capacity limit and redirections, etc., due to events, holidays, and emergencies. Texts will be sent from the following number: 434-939-4307

Note: These notifications run independently of UVA Alerts. There will be times when you receive a P&T notification before a UVA Alert notification and vice versa. 

USER OPT-OUT AND SUPPORT

If you wish to unsubscribe from receiving text messages and notifications, reply with STOP to any mobile message sent from us. You understand and agree that alternative methods of opting out, such as using alternative words or requests, will not be considered a reasonable means of opting out. We do not charge for the service, but you are responsible for all charges and fees associated with text messaging imposed by your wireless provider. Message and data rates may apply.

DISCLAIMER OF WARRANTY AND LIABILITY

The Program is offered on an “as-is” basis and may not be available in all areas, at all times, or on all mobile providers. You agree that neither we nor our service providers will be liable for any failed, delayed, or misdirected delivery of any mobile message or information sent through the Program. 

MODIFICATIONS

We may modify or cancel the Program or any of its features at any time, with or without notice. To the extent permitted by applicable law, we may also modify these Mobile Messaging Terms at any time. Any such modification will take effect when it is posted to our website. You agree to review these Mobile Messaging Terms periodically to ensure that you are aware of any modifications. Your continued participation in the Program will constitute your acceptance of those modifications.

This Privacy Policy explains how the University of Virginia Department of Parking and Transportation (P&T) collects, uses, and discloses personal information about our users. 

We value your privacy and the information you consent to share in relation to our SMS alert service. We use this information to send you text messages for P&T Alerts and requests for reviews from us. Opt-in data and consent for text messaging will not be shared with any third parties except for messaging partners (SlickText), for the purpose of enabling and operating our text messaging program. 

USE OF PERSONAL INFORMATION  

We may use information collected about you for any lawful purpose, including the following: 

• To provide you with status updates on our services; 

• To market our products and services to you, via text message subject to your consent 

• To administer surveys on the service we provide. 

• To comply with the law and to maintain the security of our website; or 

• With your consent, or as otherwise disclosed at the time information is collected. 

DISCLOSURE OF PERSONAL INFORMATION 

We may share the information we collect with other parties, including the following: 

• If necessary, to comply with applicable laws and regulations, to respond to a subpoena, search warrant, or other lawful requests for information we receive, or otherwise to protect our rights or the rights of third parties, or to protect the safety or security of any person or entity. 

• With your consent or as otherwise disclosed at the time of data collection or sharing.
