A retired University of Virginia faculty member who has received the rank of emeritus as conveyed by the Board of Visitors, and who is no longer routinely studying, researching, or working at UVA, may obtain a GOLD parking permit at no charge. Gold parking permits are issued to the original recipient and are not transferrable to surviving family members.
Contact Parking & Transportation Monday - Friday 7:30am - 5:00pm by calling 434-924-7231 or by email firstname.lastname@example.org to initiate the process to obtain a gold permit.
GOLD permits are honored in most parking lots on Grounds that have 25 or more parking spaces (see exceptions below):
- UVA Health System (All M and U Lots)
- Metered Spaces (including those at UVA fitness/recreation centers/Central Grounds Garage)
- Lee Street Garage, South Garage on Crispell Drive, 11th Street Garage
- Individually Marked Spaces (Department Spaces, Service Spaces, Visitors Spaces, etc.)
- Accessible Parking Spaces without a valid DMV issued parking placard
GOLD permits are not transferable and permit holders must adhere to all Parking Regulations and Restrictions, and are subject to ticketing and towing if found in violation of these policies.
GOLD permits can be revoked at the discretion of the University if the permit holder has been proven to abuse his/her privilege. Fraudulent misuse by display of a lost, stolen, or counterfeited permit is punishable by administrative fine and total revocation of parking privilege (Example: allowing others to use the permit).
GOLD permit holders are required to vacate lots for special events such as home Football Games at Scott Stadium, concerts/acts at John Paul Jones Arena (JPJ), or concerts at Cabell Hall by the posted vacate times.
GOLD permit holders who park at the lots or garage at Scott Stadium should check the home Football Game schedule for restricted parking dates and times.
GOLD permit holders who park at the lots at the John Paul Jones Arena (JPJ) should regularly check the JPJ Events Schedule for restricted parking dates and times.
Failure to vacate the event parking lots by the posted time may lead to ticketing and/or towing.
