Safe Ride is an on-demand point-to-point van service provided after UTS has stopped service for the night. A valid UVA ID will be required to board the van.
Typical wait times may vary from a few minutes to up to 15 minutes (or longer during periods of high call volume or during special events). Users should be ready for pick-up upon requesting the ride. Safe Ride vans will wait for 3 minutes at the pick-up location before canceling out the request. Safe Ride does not provide trips to parties, bars, restaurants or other private businesses.

Notice: Service Change
Beginning Monday, April 13, 2020, Safe Ride service will be provided by Yellow Cab of Charlottesville. Safe Ride will operate 10:00 PM to 7:30 AM, 7 days per week. These changes are effective through at least August 17, 2020. To learn more, visit the Safe Ride page.
The Office of the Dean of Students offers a Charge-A-Ride service for students. The Charge-a-Ride Program provides taxi service within the Charlottesville area to UVA students who find themselves in uncomfortable situations with no reliable or safe means of transportation and no money for cab fare. Students can call Yellow Cab (434.295.4131), charge the ride to UVA, and pay via the Student Information System — no questions asked. The Charge-a-Ride Program is not to be used for out of town trips. Call 434.924.4225 if you have any questions about the program or the billing process (please note that your Charge-a-Ride Program privileges will be frozen if you owe more than $500 in charges).
During the Academic session, when UTS is operating Full Service, transit service is provided until 12:30AM (Sunday-Wednesday) and until 2:30AM (Thursday-Saturday).
