The Afton Express is a new public transportation service connecting Staunton, Fishersville, and Waynesboro to UVA, Downtown Charlottesville, and Fifth Street Station.
Beginning September 1st, the Afton Express will operate Monday through Friday and make four morning commute trips and four afternoon/evening return trips. The buses feature comfortable seating with optional seat belts, Wi-Fi, USB charging, overhead storage, and bicycle racks. The buses are also lift-equipped to assist passengers with mobility needs.
The Afton Express will operate fare-free for the month of September giving everyone a chance to try their commute at no cost. Starting October 1st, one-way fares will be $3 with discounts available to frequent riders. Riders will also be eligible to enroll in RideShare’s Guaranteed Ride Home program, which guarantees a free ride home in case of emergency.
