Night Pilot
Night Pilot is UTS's late-night route service for traveling Grounds.
UTS OnDemand
UTS OnDemand is a fare-free, “by request” shuttle service that provides rides for University members to areas in and around Grounds during overnight hours. UTS OnDemand uses fixed pick-up and drop-off locations and there are over 50 locations to choose from in and around Grounds.
When the Night Pilot is in service, available OnDemand locations within the Night Pilot route area are limited to restricted use. A few hub locations contain the phrase “[RESTRICTED USE].” Locations designated this way cannot be paired with another restricted-use location. Riders may need to use both OnDemand and the Night Pilot to reach their destination. If so, riders should use the Alderman Library hub as their connection point.

To request a ride on UTS OnDemand, the rider needs to submit a ride request using the TransLoc app.
Instructions:
- Log into the TransLoc app using your University Account (NetBadge)
- Select the OnDemand tab along the bottom of the screen, and tap the screen to open the UTS OnDemand service map.
- Input the pickup and drop off locations. There are two ways to do this:
- Select the pickup or drop off text field, type the location name, and select the appropriate location, or
- Select a location from the pins on the map, then select whether it is the pickup or drop off location
- Select "Request Ride".
If there are any problems using the app or there is a question/concern, the rider can reach the OnDemand dispatcher at 434-242-1122 during operating hours.

Additional Late-Night Transportation
Charge-A-Ride
The Office of the Dean of Students offers a taxi service called Charge-A-Ride through Yellow Cab for UVA students. This service operates within the Charlottesville area and provides students safe means of transportation when they have no money for cab fare. Students can call Yellow Cab at 434-295-4131 to charge the ride to UVA and pay via the Student Information System – no questions asked!
The Charge-A-Ride service cannot be used for out-of-town trips. Call 434-924-4225 if you have questions about the program or billing process.
Health System Transportation Services
From 8 PM to 6 AM, Health System team members may use fixed-route and on-demand shuttles to return to UVA parking locations. Employees should call 434-982-1600 or 434-243-0027 or visit the Health System website for more information.
